Notes: The common cold is caused by viral infection. The familiar symptoms you may experience are sore throat, headache, head and nasal congestion, coughing, watery eyes, and nasal discomfort such as water discharge and sneezing. As a cold continues, the nasal membranes become swollen, the discharge becomes thicker with the possible conditions of headache, low-grade fever, muscle aches and other pains. The reason you get a cold is that you usually have not been exposed to this particular strain of rhinovirus. We are exposed to about 2 new viruses every year. Young children do not have a developed immune system to handle viruses, and because of their uncoordinated immune system, they can have as many as 7 colds per year. When there is a lack of strength in the immune system to resist viruses, you are then more prone to get colds. Zinc Acetate administered at the site of the exposure at the start of a cold can retard the effect of viruses – both the duration of the cold and also its severity. Sweeteners such as mannitol and sorbitol counteract the immune stimulant effects of zinc, but our product does not have these ingredients. You can use this product with confidence in its effectiveness. It is recommended that the total daily oral dose for zinc is 15mg/day for men and 12mg/day for women. Dermatologists have tried zinc therapy to assist in the process of wound healing in surgical excisions and leg ulcers with some positive results. Most cold remedy studies have been done with high doses of Zinc Gluconate, which we do not suggest because toxic effects can be observed below the Recommended Dietary Allowances. There have been some suggestions that 50mg/day of zinc can decrease HDL (the good lipoprotein), 60mg/day can interfere with the metabolism of copper and iron and doses of 150mg/day can suppress the immune system. Our products active ingredient is Zinc Acetate and not Zinc Gluconate. Our product delivers a small amount of zinc acetate and 72 minerals to the exposure site to reduce any possible damage to the immune system and at our recommended doses can be just as effective as higher oral doses of Zinc Gluconate without toxic possibilities. In an article by George A. Eby, shows that Zinc Acetate has high zinc ion availability (ZIA) and has greater beneficial activities for common colds than other salts of Zinc. In studies by others, the data showed that the mean duration of all cold symptoms for people using Zinc Acetate was decreased to 4.5 days as compared to 8.1 days for those not on zinc acetate therapy. A study in Turkey showed that Zinc Acetate was absorbed better that other forms of dietary zinc. In other studies, zinc is essential in for the maintenance of certain cells in the immune system and inhibits the breakdown of nerves in the nervous system. These two actions increase the efficiency of immune and nerve responses. Zinc must be used with vitamins and minerals to compliment these actions depending on the condition of the individual. Calcium in milk can also reduce zinc bioavailability. Zinc taken orally is most likely to cause trouble in the digestive tract. The lists of temporary complaints are numerous, including mucous membrane irritation, unpleasant taste, nausea, vomiting, stomach pain and diarrhea. Zinc Acetate is reported by Dr. Ananda S. Prasad, MD, professor of medicine at Wayne State University in Indiana to shows less potential to upset the gastrointestinal tract than other forms of zinc. The above reasons are why we produce our Zinc Cold Spray at a low dose, but have made it more potent than a high oral dose of Zinc Gluconate. We have achieved this success, because we have combined a special proprietary mix of minerals and zinc acetate. This formula will help you reach your goal – to reduce cold symptoms and the severity of your next cold or flu. Isn't it about time to try it and see for yourself the benefits of this excellent product?
