Silver is a white lustrous electrolyte. Silver compounds are extensively used in medicine such as an antiseptic (i.e. treating inflammations of mucous membranes), local astringent (i.e. to stop bleeding), caustic (i.e. to remover dead flesh and skin) or germicidal actions (i. e. antibiotics). Silver is used by physicians to help in the prevention and treatment of infection in second and third degree burns, because of its bacteria killing effects. Silver use has been reported in literature to cause a reduction in bacterial growth and cause spontaneous healing of deep partial thickness burns by preventing conversion of the partial thickness to full thickness by sepsis. Silver kills many gram negative and gram positive bacteria and is effective against yeast. It will also inhibit bacteria resistant to other antimicrobial agents and may be effective against the new strains of bacteria and viruses now emerging. For this reason, silver is employed in surgery and in the manufacture of surgical instruments and prosthesis. We do not use silver proteins or nitrates in our product, because they can be detrimental to your health. We use pure silver to create the best product.
