Glucosamine HCl

Scientist have long known that the body manufactures a small amount of glucosamine. It is found in relatively high concentrations in the joints and connective tissues, where the body uses it to form the larger molecules necessary for cartilage repair and maintenance.

Some experts think that Glucosamine cures arthritis, but no one supplement can claim that title. It does, provide significant relief from pain and inflammation for about one-half of the arthritis suffers, especially those with osteoarthritis. It can help people with rheumatoid arthritis and other types of joint injuries.

Glucosamine is approved in many countries around the world to ease pain and inflammation, increase range of motion, help repair aging and damaged joints in the knees, hips, spine, and hands.

Recent studies show that glucosamine may even be more effective in relieving pain and inflammation than nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAID's) such as aspirin and ibuprofen without harmful side effects. NSAID's do little to combat the progression of the disease, but glucosamine helps make cartilage and may repair damaged joints. It stimulates the production of collagen (the protein that helps hold joints together) and can build joint cartilage.

Clinical studies comparing glucosamine to placebos and standard arthritis drugs (such as ibuprofen) showed glucosamine's ability to out-perform arthritis drugs by reducing long term pain, joint tenderness and the swelling associated with joint damage. Also, it was shown to accelerate recovery and enhance the restoration of optimum joint function, providing a better range of motion.
