Biotin

Biotin is an important coenzyme that is necessary for the metabolism of carbohydrates, fats and proteins. It helps the body use glucose (the basic fuel of the body) and promotes healthy nails and hair.

 It may improve blood sugar control in people with diabetes.

 It is made in our bodies by intestinal bacteria, but supplemental uses of biotin is useful in hair loss, appetite loss, nausea, numbness, depression, high blood cholesterol, nervous system disorders such as disorientation, speech disorders, memory loss, restless legs, tremors and difficulty in walking.

 Biotin works best with pantothenic acid to produce enzymes that trigger many bodily function, and they may assist in the treatment of various diseases.

 Sources of biotin include chicken, lamb, pork, beef, veal, liver, brewer's yeast, soybeans, milk, cheese, saltwater fish, whole wheat flour and rice bran.
