Beta-carotene is readily converted into vitamin A in the body when it is needed, and unlike vitamin A, it is nontoxic.
Vitamin A has a number of important functions. It has been shown to improve resistance to infections, especially in diseases of the respiratory system; increases the effectiveness of the immune system; protective and greater therapeutic effects in the cardiovascular system, even greater than aspirin; some protection against certain forms of cancers (lung, gastric, skin, cervical, and breast); immune system enhancing effects, such as protection from ultraviolet light (UV) and oportunistic infections; improves vision with a decrease in cataracts and macular degeneration; and decreases in reproductive failure.
Vitamin A is a powerful antioxidant to neutralize free radicals. It also promotes strong gums, teeth, bones & hair. It also protects against senility and cell toxins which results in growth and tissue healing.
