In our last article we talked about the role of carbohydrates and nucleic acids in the body. We will now discuss why minerals or elements are important in our lives.
Our entire body is composed of minerals or elements. As I mentioned before, 60% of our body is water with the elements of hydrogen and oxygen. This means that every action in the body must be associated with water-soluble reactions, but there are lipid-soluble reactions too. The other 40% of the body is composed of minerals in different forms and molecular structures. These minerals must be utilized to fabricate the structures that will benefit the body and bring about wellness. The elements and minerals that we eat, allow the body to absorb and retain water for vital body structures and functions. If the proper minerals are not present in sufficiently proper amounts, then there is a decrease in the water to mineral proportions within our cells, which causes a decrease in our health. To really think properly, we need to think about the primary needs of the human body in relation to the right ratio of minerals to water and other nutrients the body needs.
The common truth is that our bodies needs minerals or elements that are provided in the correct water soluble ionic form that can be assimilated and used for an increase in health and wellness. Dr. Linus Pauling stated that every sickness, disease or ailment can be contributed to a mineral deficiency. The United States Senate reported in 1936, that 99% of Americans are deficient in minerals. That was many years ago. It makes one think about the deficiencies we have now. Every person should ask questions like, "Why are we deficient in minerals? Could it be caused by the normal farming practices in the world? Are we always taking minerals out of the soil and never completely replacing them? How about the most common foods we eat? Do we eat plants that have a variety of all the mineral and nutrient values? Do the plants we eat have all the factors for proper nutrition? If not, what are the cumulative effects on our health?" In my search for truth, I have found that most people should eat more vegetables and fruits. It is a know fact the vegetables and fruits have the minerals we need, if they are grown in soil that is prepared for maximum elemental health.
Our next publications will be about the way plants give us the minerals or electrolytes our body needs for a greater quality of life.
