Elements or Electrolytes Found in the Body

April 2006: Volume 1, Number 4

Elements or electrolytes are the bio-components of the human body. These substances are called organic minerals, since they are bio-active in the body. It is well known that organic minerals function as co-enzymes and enable chemical reactions to occur throughout the body as well as being the structures in the body.

The major elements in the body include oxygen, carbon, hydrogen, and nitrogen with other major trace elements such as iron, iodine, cobalt, manganese, molybdenum, selenium, chromium, boron, silicon, nickel, zinc, tin, vanadium, and platinum.

There are other minor elements that are there too. These elements are found in the body and are also in the plants we eat. These elements are found in the body in very small amounts. This is why they are called trace elements.

Almost all elements in the body are used to construct the structure of the body. All these structures are made from elements into the cells of the body. Other elements help to manufacture and transport energy where it is needed in these various structures. There may be some elements that are not needed at that time and are eliminated from our body.

Elements are used to construct the molecules that are used in cells. It is the molecular structures that compose the tissues, organs and structures of the body. We will discuss the molecules of the body in our next publication.
