Methylation helps regulate the switching on and off of genes. This is called Gene Expression. This is the most crucial control regulators of health and life itself.
The maintenance and protection of DNA & RNA is protected by the many functions of methylation. This affects the basic stuff of heredity and life itself. Higher levels of white blood cell DNA methylation have been associated with improving and stopping autoimmune conditions. An enzyme called DNA methyltransferase binds to zinc and then picks up methyl groups from SAM and transfers the methyl groups to the molecules of DNA, which helps DNA to function. This enzyme is an important factor in maintaining the pattern of DNA from one generation to the next. This function maintains your heredity.
When DNA methylation goes haywire, then cells become uncontrolled like we see in cancer. Cells can also age prematurely or turn traitor and begin to attack other cells in the body. Methylation keeps chromosomes together, organized and properly condensed to prevent cancer progression.
You can now see why methylation is very important in body functions.
We will talk about the autoimmune diseases and factors that can cause damage to the cells of the body. These inflammatory immune complexes can cause a degeneration of the body systems and their vital functions, which can put the body in a critical condition.
