The Specific Uses of Minerals or Elements in the Body – Molybdenum [Mo]

February 2008: Volume 3 Number 2

Molybdenum [Mo] Molybdenum is a potent and critical mineral in the enzyme processes of iron and nitrogen metabolism. Molybdenum is a required part of the flavoprotein enzyme and xanthene oxidase in the intestines and liver. The liver enzyme, aldehyde oxidase, a flavoprotein, contains molybdenum to oxidize aldehydes to a form that can be eliminated from the body.

We will discuss Selenium (Se) mineral in our next lecture as a continuation of the specific uses of minerals or element in our bodies.
